New Zealand lamb is (mostly) halal

This will be old news to some of you, but thanks to the contributors at DeenPort, we can be safe in the knowledge that any sheep/lamb meat from New Zealand is halal, as long as it's not from one of the following abattoirs - code indicated on the packaging - ME 80; ME 103; ME 104; ME 108; ME 112; ME 131; ME 132; ME 133. This is regardless of whether a 'halal' mark appears on the packaging or not.

Click through to DeenPort to read the full mail from the New Zealand Meat & Wool Board.

Now before we all run off to our local supermarkets, spare a thought for the local halal butcher who may be more deserving of your custom in the troubled economy...

  6. well if the abattoir code is m50 it is halal, only those that are the above are not halal.
But anyhow we should have no problem eating the meat of ahl al kithab

  7. Why dont you barbaric pigs insist that food in the UK is labelled halal or not halal? We infidels dont like the idea of eating halal food as much as you dont like eating haram food.
We dont like to think of a poor lamb being hung by one leg with its throat cut, and its leg dislocating or even bearking just so you mad bastards can practice your medieval barbaric religion on them.
So...get complaining about food labelling like we are doing, and get the food labelled in the shops.

all codes for halal abattoirs. However this does not mean they produce always halal. They might produce halal and conventional meat.
